John Devvey, Ph. B„ professor o philosophy, has aceepiel a cali from the Uni e.-sity of Chicïgo. The departme.it of philosophy, of whieh he is to be the head, is numb ered iirst in the thirty-five departments of learning in that University. Prof. Dewey, though in the very prime of his usefulnoss, has made a brilíiant record in his chosen profession. He graduated from the university of Vermont in 1879 and afterwards finished with high honors at Johns Hopkins. His connection with Michigan began in 1884 when he was appointed assistant professor o; philosophy. He remained here four years when he left to become professor of mental and moral philosophy and ogic at the University of Minnesota. In time he returned to the U. of M. to succeed Prof. Morris as professor of jhilosophy, which chair he now leavee to accept a chair in Chicago's big institution. Prof. Dewey is one of the oremost of America's educators and ■ that nis loss will be severely feit here there is no doubt.
