Washington, April 19. - In the senate yesterday Senator Palmer (dem., 111. ) introduced a bilí repealingthe state bank tax but prohibiting the issuing oí money by state banking institutions or by any other corporations or persons flxcept national banks. Senator Morrill (rep., Vt) spoke in opposition to the tariff bilí, while Senator Turpie (dem., Ind. ) defended the measure. Washington, April 20. - The day in the senate yesterday was almost entirely consumed by a speech against the tariff bilí by Senator Perkins, of California. Washington, April i'. - Inthe senate yesterday Senators Gallinger and Dolph spoke ag-ainst the tariff bilL Washington, April 22. - The tariff bilí was further discussed in the senate yesterday. A message was received frotn the president transmitting Hawaiian correspondence, and the me morial of Pennsylvania workingmen against the tariff bilí was read by SenBtor Quay. Washington, April 24. - The feature of the senate session yesterday was a speech by Senator Washburn (rep., Minn.) against the tariff bilL A bul was introduced, by request, by Senator Peffer (pop.. Kan.) "to dispose of idle labor and discourage idle wealth in the District oí Columbia." The liiimi' Washington, Aprll 19.- The consular and diplomatic appropriation bilí was iurther discussed in the house yesterday and the debate touched a wide variety of subjects and was f uil of per■onalities. Washington, April 20. - In the house yesterday the time was occupied in discussing the diplomatic and consular appropriation bill. Washington, April 21. - A bilí was introduced in the house yesterday for a nrveyof aship canal route, connecting Lake Erie and the Ohio river, by way of the Ohio canal and Muskingum rlver. The rest of the day was spent in the fruitless discussion of the bill to settle some Tennessee war claims against the government amounting to 422,000. The evening session was deroted to pension business. Washington, April 22. - In the house yesterday the diplomatic appropriation dIU was further considered and eulogies were delivered on the late Senator GibFon, of Louisiana. Washington, April 24.- The time in the house yesterday was devoted to District of Columbia business. The bill sllowing racing and pool-selling in the district was defeated.
