Last Monday morning at 4 o'clock the night watchman tried the doors of the variou9 business places on S. Statest and found them all locked. Three hours later when the clerk caine down to open Sheehan's bookstore he found that thjo rear door had been f orced open by burilara and the established raided. But litftle, however. was taken. All Mr. Sheehan could find missing was $150 worth of goods, consisting of gold pens, Bome silverware Christmas presenta and about thirty dollars worth of sweaters. The work had evidently been done by an unexperienced man Oné thing that indicated thia was the fact that he put a lot of gold pens in his Test pocket and then took off his coat and vest to fit hitnself out in the sweat er line. Then in his departure hc forgo' to put on his vest, thus leaving the larger part of the gold pens that he ineant to take. So far no trace of the burglar has been found except the vest This, however, may lead to the discov ery of'the right man. Monday James A. Lanen was arrestea on suSpicion. It is said that Marshal Banfteld remembers seeing younj Jjinert wearing the vest found at Snee han's Htcire, and f arther that it matched a pairjof pantaloons Linen was wear ing. Li'nen is out on bail. He wil have cis hearing Jan. 8.
