_ During lus last visit ío Kníland Emperor William was much disappointed becauso the entire regiment of the Drag-oon Guarda, whose ohief he is, was not brought over from Dublin to Aldershot to meet him. Ho went so far as to point out to his uncle, the prinoe of Wales, and afterward to the queen herself, how on the continent it is tlie invariable practico to bring a regiment to g-reet its honorary colonel if he is a foreign royalty on a visit to the eourt. When it was politely intimated to the Germán monarch that there would oertainly have beea an unpleasant dlscusalon in the house of cciamone upon the question of th( enormoua expense of removing the vrhole regiment from Ireland to England merely for a few days and eheer display. William ir. remarked: "May be you are rfght," but he added that the next time he would himself review the Dragoons at Dublin.
