With some horpes it is acute, 'as with the dog; and for the benefit of thoso who drivo at night, sueh as physicians and others, this knowledge is invaluable. I never knew it to fail, and I havo ridden hundreds of miles of dark nig-hts, and in consideration of this power of scent this is my simple advice: Never check your horse at night bntgive him a f ree head, and you may rest assured that he will never g-et off the road, and will carry you safely and expeditiously.
