The other day M. Perier, the president of France, went into a shop in Paris and opening? a packag-e which he carried produced an automatic doll, and asked the shop girl behiad the counter whether it could be repaired. She replied that it could and asked who he was, that the doll mifrht be sent home. He told her, w-hen she stared at him a moment and famted away. His dig.nity was too ruueh for her.
