Seventy Years Ago To To-day
To the editor of Tbk Register. As there has been some doubt in the past as to who was the first white child born in Ann Arbor town, I will give y ou the folio wing f acts taken f rom the family record of the late Ueorge Rash, who settled on sec. 25, Ann Arbor, in September 1824. Mary Rash was born in Ann Arbor on January 29th, 1825, and she tlied March 26th, 1831, aged six years. The next child bora was E. W. Bumsey Smith, born, November 24, 1825. The 3rd child was John S. Nowland, born. Jure 13th, 1826, James Q, Rash er of Mary) was bom Nov. 19th, 1827He has resided on the same premises up to the present time, 67 years. Dated, Ann Arbor, Jan. 29th, 1895.
