R. S. Grecnwood is about again aftor serious illness. Mrs. W. B. Smith visited friends in Detroit last week. Dr. Geo. E. Frothingham, of Detroit, was in the city Monday. Mrs. W. D. Harriman has returned írom a visit at Kalamazoo. Me C. Le Beau, of Detroit, was in the city on business, last Priday. Mr. H. Ilandall is expocted home from New Haven in a few days. Hon. Reuben Kempf has gone to Pittsburg, Pa., on a business trip. An original ponsion has been granted to Geo. Maulbetsch, of Northfield. VV. E. Stocking has gone back to Lansïng to resume his duties at the capitol. Dr. Conrad Georg left for Boston, Mass., last week on a professional visit. Mrs. Israel Hall will leave soon for an extended trip in Mexico and Florida. Mrs. D. F. Schairer left last Friday for Chicago for a short visit with a sister. Mr. Harry Kelly, of Grand Iïapids, who formorly lived here, lost his wife recently. Robt. J. Ailes, of 23 S. Fifth-ave., is .quite recovered from a severe attack of pneumonia. Mr Frederick Schmid celobrated her fiftieth birthday last Saturday at .her home on S. Fif th ave. Rev. C. M. Coburn leetured in SagiDaw last night for the benefit of the Bliss Hospital of that place.. Albert Sager, of New Mexico, is visiting his sisters on South State-st. He has been away for seventeen years. Mrs. Mabel Bailey, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Stimson, has returned to her home. E B. Conrad, of Brooklyn, N. Y, son of B. J. Conrad, of S. Ingalls-st., writes that he has a brand new boy at his home. It is reported that DeWitt Fall is improving and that he is in a fair way to recover from his recent very serious illness. Mrs. O. L. Matthews, who has been the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Stimson, has returned to her humo in Lansing. - Pres. J. B. Angelí delivered the dedicatory address at Krkvvood Hall at the State University of Indiana, at Bioomington, last Friday. E. J. Smith, formerly with the Argus, is back in his old position editing the Adrián Press during Mr. Stearn's absence in the South. Judge Babbitt was back at the Probate office Friday morning after a week's visit with congressman Gorman in Washington, D. C. Doctor and Mrs. J. N. Martin will leave for a trip in the south as soon as the doctor is sufïiciently recovered to undertake the journey. Geo. Storms of E. Ann-st., celebrated 'the 49th anniversary of his birth Saturday night by entortaining all of his deaf-mute friends in the city. Miss Lena Michael returaed last Monday from Orlando. Florida, where sho has been since the flrst of last November for the benefit of her health. Mrs. EL S. Dean, Mrs. Stebbens and Miss Dean give a reception to their friends this af ternocn from three to six, at the home of Mrs. Dean on E. Liberty st. Frof. M. E. Cooley was in Detroit last Wednesday night attending the meeting of the local branch of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. John Lindenschmit and Geo. Apfel left Tuesday for N. Y. City to select a stock of goods for their new store which they expect to open about the lst ■of March. Mrs. Lola H. Allen, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B..J. Conrad, since they were burned out in Chicago last November, has returned to Chicago. Dr. D. A. MacLachlan went to Three Rivers on last Thursday, where he performed an operation. He returned .home by way of Maybee, where he perJormed another. B. J. Con rad, who is one of the directors of the Michigan Mutual Life Insurance Co., was in Detroit, Tuesday in attendance upon the annual meeting of the company. Messrs. J. T. Jacobs and Chas. E. Hiscock will leave in a fe w days for a trip to the Pacific coast. Thoy will go by way of New Orleans and the Southern Pacific railroad. Professor and Mrs. F. C. Clark aro home from their European trip. They amo home sooner than they intended on account of the illness of Mr. J. W. Knight, Mrs. Clark's father. Miss Jean Phillips, of London, Ontario, a sister of Robert Phillips, spent Sunday and Monday in the city, the guest of Dr. and Mrs. D. A. MacLachlan. She took part in the Unity Club entertainment last Monday night.
