A remarkable discovery was recently made while workmen were tearng down a building at Pesth, Hung-ary. When they removed the lig-htning- rod, which had been erected some ifteen years previous, a larg-e masa of jure iron was found firmly attached :o the lower end. The lump was porous as a sponge, but pure and very ïeavy, the piece, which was not more ;han twice as large as the average man's hoad, weighing forty-six pounds. rhere is but one way of accounting tor the peculiar positioti of this ball of iron - it. had been brought together and shaped by the action of lig-htning on the iron partirles in the clay.
