The W. C. r. TT. meet this afternoon, at three o'clock', at McMillan Hall. The forces are already gathering in London for the World's W. C. T. U. Convention. Mrs. Edith Arehibald, president of Maritime provinces of Canada, is in tëngland. and Madame Layah Baraket, of Syria, is expected soon. A delégate has been chosen in Shanghai, China, another in South Australia, another in Frondhjom, Norway, and every mail carries to the World's officers the credentials of new delegates from all parts of Christendom. Mrs. Rounds, president of Illinois, sails May 22d, and Mrs. Burt, the Empire state's president, starts May 29th, but by far the largest party will be companions in Dr. Lunn's contingent, sailing on the Berlin, June 5th. Every indication points to a merry company and a happy voyage. FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. The fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of Dr. Daniel P. and Mrs. Mai-y A. Livermore, was celebrated May 16, in Melrose, Mass. The entire town united to honor the event, the school houses. town hall and all public buildings being draped with the stars and BtripeB. But the center of all interest was, naturally, the Livermore homestead, where the revered couple, stil 1 in the strength of their mental and physical powers, received hundreds of their friends. The little folks had large share in the celebration, presenting floral and jeweled presents of rare value and beauty. The teachers and pupils of the high school, represented by a committee, manifested their love and esteem for one who had "done so much for humanity" by presenting flfty American Beauty roses, Mrs. Livermore boing especially touched by these remembrances, from the younger generation. One of the most significant events of the day was a battalion of boys from the public schools, representing the anti-tobacco league, under the direction of the local W. C. T. U., marching through the streets and through the Livermore mansion, each one being addressed by the worthy couple. The white-ribboners of the state and city remcmbered Mrs. Liverraore handsomely. Cablegrama carne from Mise Willard and Lady Henry Somerset, and telegrams from all over the land, wishing them many years of health, happiness and good works. RESULTS OF TEMPERANCE. A story is current in the Oriënt of a wis6 old slieik who gave to a young Arab princo, from whora he was about to part, a list of crimes, and bade him to choose the one which seemed the cast harmful. The young prince turned in horror from mui-der, theft, and loss of virtue, and told the pat-i-iroh that ho would choose "intemperance.v "You have chosen the one," said the wiso old man, "that will bring you all the rest.''
