Harry Ooodln. the well-known turfican of Fr.iladelphia, recently purchased a therougfcbred colt in Plttsburg. The colt arrivf d a few days later in fine conctitlon. Mr. Ooodin was so pleased with his purchase that he proceeded to give the animal a reception and banquet in the dining-noin of the Bingham house1. Several of the resident gruestsof the hotel weiv ;.:lmitted to the ireat. The colt was safely eavried to the diningr-room by means of the elevator, and Mr. Goodin took great delight In pninting- out the qualltlea of his beauttful pony. The entertainment ended and the trouble began. Mr. Goodin, with the ald of th" hotel employés, a number of frlends, and other advisors, trled In vain to urge the colt to walk off the Eleventh street steps leading from the hotel. This the colt absolutely refused to do, whereupon they trled to carry hlm by all tours, but were equally unsuccessful. Embarrassed by the shouts of laughter which greeted their efforts, the colt was led through the corridor and a platform built leading to the baggage-room. It was finally persuaded to come down to the level of the ordlnary horse by way of an inclined plain, making the descent with all the dignity befitting a pony that had been banqueted and royally en'ertained in a hotel.
