An amuaing incident oceurred at a fashionable wedding in London. One friend, who determined to save her money and credit at the same time, took a broken ear-ring to a famous jeweler of Bond street and ordered the little 8tone to be Bet as a scarf-pin for the groom. As she sagely ramar ked: "It does me no good and coming from such a famous establishment, theyare sure to prize it and Unnk I paid a lot of money." When the package was returned from tha ihop the wedding guest failed to xamine her proposed present, and toerely dispatched it with her card and compliments. Imagine her disgust when strolling through the room where the brldal gifts were displayed, to flnd a dozen people about her offering, and each one smiling. For a jnoment Bhe hesitated then preesed orward, and lo! there was the preclous white satin covered box, bearinn Jhe prize name. it is true, but, alas! below: "From the repairing depari ment." And, even worse than all Resting on the blue cotton beside th pm, was an old broken bit of . ear ring returned by the consoienĂ¼om erin.
