An amuoing incident occurrod at fashionable in London. One friend, who determined to save her tnoney and credit at the samo time, took a brokcn ear-ring to a famous Joweler of ]!ond street and ordered the little stone to be set as a scarf-pin for the groom. As she sagely remarked: "it does me no good, and, from such a famous establishment, they are sure to prize it and Ihink I paid a lot of money." When the package was returned from tha hop the wedding guest failed to examine her proposed present, and tnerely dispatched it with her card and compüments. Imagino her disg-ust when strolling through the roomg H'hcro the brldal gifts vers displayed, to nnd a dozen pcople about her oftering-, and each one smiling-. For a moment she hesitated then pressed iorward, and lo! there was the preeious white satin covered box, bearing ihe prize name. it is true, but, alas! below: "From the repairing depari ment." And, even vrovse tban all on the blue cotton beside the pin, was an oíd broken bit of earring- returned by the conscienuou drin.
