Tho commenceracnt cxcrciscs at the Ann Arbor Higo School were held last Friday forenoon in the chapel. The day was pleasant and the room was crowded. Thcre were an oven hundred young people who had completad the prescribed courses and were ready to receive their diplomas. This is the kniest graduating clasa that has ever complet od the course at this or any othei high school in the stnte so far as wc have been able to learn. The gradúating exercises were wcll arranged and delightfully. brief. There were eight of the graduates who were selected to speak on the occasion. There natnes and subjects are as follows:Newspaper Reading, Ellen B. Baeh, Ann Avbor; The Tnjustice of Land Ownership, C. Prederick Gauss, Ann Arbor; Two Apple Blossoms, Mabel R. Van Kleek, Ann Arbor; A Second Methuselah and bis Wife, Luella J, Read, Shenandoah, Ia: Turn over the Leaf, Lisia A. Van Valkenburg, Ann Arbor ; Cobwebs in the Sky, Florence K. Wetmore, Ann Arbor ; Good Roads, Frederick E. Wright, Ann Arbor; A Pycho-Chemical Discovery, Rose M. Wood-Allen, Toledo, Ohio. The first of these Miss Bach, was excused on account of illness. Theproductions of these young people were of an unusually high order and showed that their training in the school had beenexceptionally thorough. In addition to this the two literary societies of the High School presented to the school two fine busts, executed by the artist. Morse, of Emerson, and Darwin, derick Emmenek, a memoer of the graduating class,made the presentation speech. The gift was accepted in behalf of the board of trustees in a few brief remarksby J.E.Beal and inbehalf of the teachers by Prof. Ferry. The Chequauiegon orehestra furnished some excellent music for the oecssion. The presents received by rnany of the graduating class were numerous and costly.
