We had hoped better things of Fashlon, but nothing seems able to stop her an the road of extravagance down vhich she is slipping. Sklrts and sleeves are pyramidal, and a large-slzed pillow would hold within the folds of a balloon sleeve. One thing, however, saves modern fashions from belng utterly ungrateful- stiftnesB is banished, sklrts hang in soft folds, and sleeves are loosely draped without a soupeon of crinoline or buckram. In fact, In this consists the novelty of the season's toilets. They repudíate all stift linings, and the triumph of a good modiste Is to accumulate hollow plaits and drooping folds without the ïid of any artificial support. Of course, there must be underskirts, and we ehall certainly see a return to flounced tarched petticoats, but the dress itself stands on the strength of its own materia). The only linings used are thin silk :r atinette.-
