It has been generally believed that the introductlon of eleutric cars, furnishing rapid tranfit to all parts of the city and suburbs, has had a depreclatlng effect upon the prlce of hoi-ses, but the facts do not bear out this assumption, says the Philadelphia Times. Good homes are In good demand and they bring high prices. There is but llttle demand for undeslrable horsec, good drivers are scarce. Nowadays nearly all hornea are sold at auction, comparatively few being disposed of at private sale. The scareity of good horses at present is explained by the fac.t that dealers stopped breeding a year ago, when the prices were low and there was but little demand. A well-bred Barrel mare. with a mark of 2:36, brcmfM o.ily $57.50, whlle ies rtyllsh-lookir-B ■ n horse, 6 years old, and broke to single or doublé harness, brought $102.50, and a bay gelding, 5 years old and a high knee ewtor and front stepper, wíj sold for $94.
