Boston has just entertained one oí the finest bodies of orjjanized men ever gathered in the United States in ;ime of peaoe. The tri-ennial conclave of the Kniffhte Templar of America was held in that city of culture and Sakêd beans aud the American Athenians were amply repaied for the elabórate preparations they made to entertain the Sir Knights, of whom over 50,000 had made the pilgrirnage to that city. The tirst great feature of the conclave after the arrival of the uumerous comtnanderies was the parade, in which 25,000 Sir Knights ticipated. It is estimated that fully 500,000 people crowded the streets of Jioston to witness the grand pageant, and business was entirely suspended throughout the day. lioston has seldom if ever been so elaborately decorated. l'ractically every building along the line of of march was clothed in color, with appropriate mottoes and emblems intertvvined with streamers and bunting. As the marching columns passed the reviewing stands before the Most Eminent Urand Commander McCurdy, of Michigan, and Gov. Greenhalge, of Massachusetts, and before Chief Marshal Lawrence and Mayor Curtis, many of the commanderies executed intricate military evolutions which won the adtniration of the thousands of spectators who witnessed them. The six comrlanderies which drilled were from Vashington, ü. C, Troy, N. Y., Chicago, Louisville, Minneapolis and Detroit in the order named. In order to avoid jealousies no official judgement of the merits of the competing comnanderies was given, but the universal opinión of all was that Detroit No. I was the flnest drilled body of men ever seen in Boston The election of officers for the next :hree years resulted in the choice of Hight Eminent Sir Warren La Rue Thomas, of Kentucky, as rpojit egijnent grand commander. - The other officers ire: Deputy grand commander, Very Eminent Sir Reuben H.
