Edward Latshaw, agorernmentcontractor on Mississippi river improvement, had 600 pounds of dynamite si-ored in the cellar of his house at Speehts Ferry. la. His son, while pract icing with a revolver, missed the target, the bullet the cellar and the dynamite. The house was blown to splinters and five persons were killed, ineluding Latahaw, his wife and two children and a friend. Three other persons were probably fatally injured. The report of the explosión was heard 12 miles auay.
