Good Year For Brown University
President Andrews oí Brown Univer■;ity, in hia report to the Corporation, notes that during the past year the university has been uncommonly fortúnate (inancially. Though nothing was addod io the endowment, the income from securities was so little impaïred, and the ncrease of fees from students so considerable - more than $14,000 in excess of the largest amount ever previously derived from this source - that the deficit for the year ended April 15 was found to be but $2,645.54. All this was, of course, covered by the pledges made during the preeeding year by generous friends of the university - covered, too, by a draft of less than 14 per cent upon each share guaranteed. This result is he more gratifylng in that it was not made possible by any pinching or unsual economies.
