Large Tract Of Land In Dispute

Washington, Nov. 3.- About 1,202 acres of land on and around the margin of Cedar lake or Ely lake, near Duluth, Minn., are invoTved in the case of G. A. Burns et aL VB. S. K. Murphy, the Security Land and Exploration company, the Duluth Iron Range company, Cloquet Lumber company, et al., in whieh the general land offlco decisión has been affirmed by tho secretary of the interior. The petitioners, represented as bona-fide settlers, ask for survey and platting of the lands to allow homestead entry, while the defendants claimed owñership under patents issued and swamp land granta made by the government. The decisión directs the surveyor-general to contract for the survey asked for.
