Leadville, Col., Oc, 31.- W. H. Montgornery. general orgnizcr of the American Federation of Labor, is here for ihe purpoee of settling the miners' strike if possible. He lias interviewed all parlies here ,and while his mission Is as yet only fairly begun he has sírong hopos of success. He saye he fnuls the mine managers, business men, smelter managers and citizens generally anxious to havo an early and satisfactory settlement and 'rom what he has heard from the miners he knows the majority of thom feel the same way. Mr. Montgomery otated that the loss already accrued from the strike, covering wages, loss of trade, etc., and exclusive of the reduced mineral output, will aggregate $2,000,000.
