Accepting as a conclusión, thatacting is a great art, we ltok about us for its best living exponent. After earefully searching the English speaking dramatic stage, it is found that this honor has been conferred upon M. Richard Mansfield. Every thing that great artist undertakes, is so delightfully permeated with art that there is found in the ccmpletion of all his efforts what appears to be, an epitome of granduer and perfection. No one better understands, or more fully complies with the letter of that old saying which reads "What is worth doing at all, is worth doing well," than does Mr. Mansfield. As a consequence it is not surprising to find much pleasurable anticipation over the coming of tbis great actor to the Grand Opera House for one night cmly on Wednesday, November I8th, 1896, presenting for the first time in this city his new successful plav ,'Castle Sombras." "Castle Sombras1' is a romantic comedy in four acts by H. Greenough Smith. editor 6f the London Strand. The scènes and incidents take place in the seventeenth century during the veign of King Charles I., and that page of English history so fraught with the noble deeds and cbivalrous acts of heroic men delightfully illumines the story throughout. Out, of this story arises' a nutnber of climaxes which bring forth the histrinic power of Mr. Mansfield to a surperlative degree. The develoument of the ilot is reached logically'. Mr. Mansield will be seen as Sir John Sombras and Beatric Cameron (Mrs. Mansfield) as Thyrza.
