New York, Nov. 24.- The following correspondence is from Santiago, Cuba, under date of Nov. 12: "There ia a reign of terror in Guantanamo. Every night pacíficos are taken from their homes, conducted to the outskirts of the town and there butchered. More than sixty inoffensive persons have been murdered in that way since the middle of October. "Gens. Linares and Vera del Rey, with 2,000 men, were defeated Nov. 10 by Mendoza and Freiré at Barrabacoa, near Dos Caminos. The Spanish flcd, leaving many killed and wounded, among the latter a colonel. Tho wounded, including the colonel, were cared for 'oy some women living near. When the Spaniards afterward turned from Dos Caminos to get their woumled they arrested and shamefully treated the women." Nov. 9 Spanish Commander Ardanaz, with a large column, was defeated by Rebel Leader Torres near the wharf oL Banes (Holguin), where there is a fort. The rebels laid a wire cable aeross the harbor entrance, and when the gunboat Vicente Tanez went to protect the Spanish column she could uot get in. She retreated in a shower of bullets after losing two men killed. The Spanish column again fought the insurgents on its return in Lorna de los Angeles, and suffered considerable loss. Commander Garrido's guerillas and regulara were defeated the lOth by Brigadier Bonne. Garrido was severely wounded in the right leg. His horse was killed under him. Almost the entire force of guarillas joined the rebels.
