Dr. W. H. Locks, of the East Ohio conference, has been appointed tothe chaplaincy of the Ohlo state reformatory at Mausfleld, O. Rev. Frank Crane, of Trinity Methodist Episcopal ehurch, Chicago, is delivering a series of able and instructiv ante-election sermons on "Our Country." The fact Urat Bishop Merrill has attended four conferences in. immediata weekly succession, pretty effectually disproves the recent newspaper reporta rts to his dangerous illness. Rev. Dr. Henry A. Stimson, formerly pastor of Broadway tabernacle, held the first service of the new Congregational church which has been organIzed on the west side, New York, in Leslie 'hall, Sunday, Sept. 27. Evangelista Wiliams and Alexander are holding revival services in a big tent at Marshalltown, Ia. All vhe ministers of the city, including the rector of the Episcopal ehurch, aro. giving the work hearty support. Over löO persons had been converted up to Sept. 20. The appointment of Rav. Robert McIntyre to the pajjtorate of St. James' Methodist parish of Chicago, by Bishop Andrews at the late Rock river conference, was received with great gladness by those who knew Dr. Mclntyre while he was pastor of Grace Methodist church on the north side. He leaves what is known as one of the most deBirablo pulpits in the west to taka charge of his new work.
