Dr. Cantrelet directs that a plece of cotton -wool may be steeped in a 5 per cent soluüon of pyrogallic acid ana inerted in the pipe or cigar-holder. He claims that this method -will neutralize any pos8ible ill effect of the nicotine. Buch ill effects as headache, furring ol the tongue aud more serious ills can b avoided by the above process.
