The Texas Is Worthless

New York, Dec. 5.- The battleship Texas, which has been undergoing refcairs for two weeks, was floated out of the timber dry doek early yesterday morning and with the assistance of two government tugs was moored at the tob doek. The ship is unfit for service and will, in all probability, be put out of commisson in the near future and undergo extensivo alterations. Besides the weakness of the bulkheads, the water-tight compartments and the hydraullc apparatus that works the twelve-lnch guns, the big túrrete are found to have been so faultily censtructed that the guns can be Ioded Trom only two positions. Should the turrets becomo jammed the guns would be useless. Many other defects have also been discovered.
