The host oí frienda and acquaintences of Isaac N. S. Poster, of Ann Arbor town, vvere pained last Saturday to heai of his sudden death from heart failure. Although Mr. Foster has been in feeble health for somo months, he has been able to be about more or lees all of the time. On Monday before his death he was about the city greeting his friends. Last Priday, the day before his deathj Mr. Foster, who had recentiy passed his 69th birthday, was about his home helping in the various duties in taking care of the stock. He was an indefatigable worker and never eeemed satisfied unless he was employed in some way. Mr. Foster was also a great reader and always kept abreast of the times. On the night before his death he had become so absorbed in the news of the day that he read until midnight. Then evidently feeling more wearied than usual, he lay down on a sofa and seems to have dropped asleep. Just before four o'clock in the niorning his son George, who slept upstairs, heard a heavy breathing and a groan. He at once hastened down and found his father still upon the sofa apparently in peaceful slumber. Upon examination he fouud that life was gone, though the body was still perfectly warm and lifelike. The deceased was born in Royalton, Niágara Co. N. Y., Dec. 10, 1827. When a mere boy Mr. Foster carne to this county with his parents and settled on the old homestead of 240 acres near Geddes. Here he has lived ever sinceHe was educated at the district school and at an academy which was conducted here in his early days. In 1850 he married Miss Almira Green, a daughter of Ebenezer Green of Salem. Mr. Foster has always taken an active part in county alïairs. For flve years he was Township Cierk, Commissioner of Highways for four years, and Supervisor for flve years. He was also director of School District No. 8, in which his home was located, for a number of years, holding that office at the time of his death. Two children, Geo. N. and Ulysses T., have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Foster, both of whom with the aged mother survive the deceased. The eider son, Ulvsses, has resided in Detroit for the past nineteen years. The other son, Geo. N. has remained with his father upon the farm. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday 4 p. m. conducted by the Rev. Mr. Moore. of the Dixboro chureh. Burial was in the Geddes cemetery. Mr. Foster who has been a well-known character in this county for the past half a century, will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends who have always greatly admired his noble character and sterling worth. The Register extends its sympathy to the bereaved family which has lost a kind husband and worthy parent.
