P. D. Armour On Prosperity
Chicago, Aug. 23.- The new tariff bilĂ is the beat thing that ever happened to the business interests of the United States, (iertnany and Trance are being made to take the saaie kind of medicine they have been giving us for the last few years. and they have had enough of it already. Germany has quit threatening retaliation, andFrance will quit too in a few weeks. They are both taking down the wall they had built up against American products, and within a few months our goods will find a market there which they have not had in years. The people of the United States are masters of thosituation. The Germans and French acknowledge it. They can't get along without our products. Five years of sunshine have begun. I never have predicted $1.50 wheat, but I did predict that wheat would go up to $1, and T believe it will stay there. Europe is obliged to buy our, cereals, and it has all the money necessary to pay for thcm. There can be juat as much wheat exported at $1 a buahel as at 75 cents. The people of Europe will pay one price just as quickly as the other. Corn and oats and provisions are bound to go up with wheat.
