J. R. C. May, a well known employee of Ij. C. Weinman, the meat man, was drowncd in McHugh lako, near Wbitmore, last Sunday. Mr. May and John Heinzman, bis brother-in-lavv, vvera on the lake ia a poor boat, just started out to fláh when the bottom gave way letting both men into the water. Both had on heavy elothiug and boots but Heinzman suooeeded by hard work in reaching the sliore. May was not so fortúnate; hia boots filled with water and his heavy clothes becoming wet cluog about his limbs and impeded his progress so that when he tried to swim through the thick weeds and lilly pads lie beeame entangled and sank. His body was soon reeovered but no Ufe remained. The deceased leaves a wife and two ehildren who were visiting near by when the drowning occurred. He carried $4000 insurance; $2000 ia the Macoabeesand alike anount in the Aneient Order of United Workmen. The fuaeral was held Tuesday, Hev. Neumann officiating.
