There was a hot time in this particular town last Friday Tiight. In the morning a special train from Jackson. brought in 120 Ëlks and a smaller crowc numbering thirty carne up from Detroit to attend the Charity show at the Athens theatre. The performance at the theatre opened with a negro minstrel show. This was füllowed by music, rille shooting, and slight-of-hand performances. After the entertainment, the Elks, 300 in number adjourned to their rooms lor a social session. A good dinner was served and after much food had disappeared, Martin J. Cavanaugh called the bouse to order and introduced Mayor Hiscock, who said many excellent things but none whicli pleased the Ann Arbor delegation so much as the statement that he heartily favors street paving. Other toasts were given and when tha Elks slarted for the train the court house clock was striking two.
