The case of John Shadford against the Street Railway went to the jury Thursday eveningr. In his closing plea Mr. Sawyer reviewed the unfortunate life of the young man who was a steady industrious lineman, with a wife and child. Two years ago he feil while working for the company. He was paralyzed and can not use either leg. Suing the company, he was granted a judgment of $4,500. The case was appealed and a new trial ordered on the ground that co proof had been presented that the fault lay with the company. The evidence ia the last case went to show that the trouble was due to a defective instrument furnished by the company, and the jury gave Shadford a judgment of $7,000, $2,500 more than he rece i ved bef ore.
