Workmen hoist into place one of two 3,000-pound sculptured slabs, designed and executed by University sculptor Carleton W. Angell, on the E. Huron St.-S. Fourth Ave. corner of Washtenaw's new county building. The large figures on the slab represent "power and peace," while the smaller figurines depict industry, science and medicine. Angell worked three months preparing the 8-foot high slabs which will adorn the new marble-limestone building.
