f " V ;, I . ( f f J f!, I A resolution urging City Counpll to approve a total reconstrucción of the Stadioim Boulevard bridges over State Street instead of just repairing them has been passed by the Planning Commission. The reconstruction should allow fór four lanes of roadway to pass under the overpass, plus room for pedestrian and bicycle paths, the commission said. It also said the reconstruction should not preclude the possibility of eventually building connecting ramps between State and Stadium if this is deemed necessary by the traffic circulation study now underway. - Last April, city voters approved a bond ■ sale to raise $635,000 for improvements I to the Stadium bridges over State and to I the Broadway bridge over the Penn 1 tral Railroad tracks. The bonds for that I work have already been sold but the 1 jects have not yet begun. I The commission said the bridge 1 struction is the most critical 1 ment called for in the south area plan, which commission also approved Tuesday. The resolution said this work is considered a high priority by the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti Urban Area Transportation subcommittee and could be eligible for a federal grant covering 72.5 per cent of the cost. In another matter, the commission approved a final preliminary plat for the Housing Commission site near Winewood and Thaler. However, staff also said before the 17 homes there can be occupied the Zoning Board of Appeals must grant "17 essential variances" since the buildings do not conform with zoning regulaI tions. _____I_B_- _
