In the second narcotics raid in the city in less than 24 hours, Ann Arbor pólice, aided by officers from three other agencies, yesterday made three arrests and seized what was described as $1,000 worth of marijuana. Police Chief Walter E. Krasny called the latest raid "added emphasis" to his promise of a month ago that his men and officers from other local pólice agencies would "keep the heat on" those in narcotics traffic. Two nights ago Sheriff Douglas J. Harvey's men and Wayne County officers raided a N. Main St. house, made five arrests and confiscated marijuana and a quantity of pills. Chief Krasny said yesterday's raid, made in an upper middle-class neighborhood on the city's southeast side, was coordinated by Detective Staff Sgt. Calvin Hicks and Detective Richard Anderson from his department. Agents from the U.S. Immigration Service, the U.S. Post Office and Michigan State Pólice undercover officers participated in the raid which was made 2892 Baylis Dr., located just off Stone School Rd. Arrested and charged with the sale of marijuana was Mrs. Mique Burnette, 26. Miss Susan Wyborski, 21, a part-time waitress and a University junior from Grosse Pointe Park, was taken into custody on a charge of possession of marijuana. Federal customs agents may later file smuggling charges against the two women, officers said. Following the raid, officers trailed Daniel Eugene Kingen, 20, of 1886 Packard St. in Ypsilanti, from a house in Chelsea to an Ypsilanti Township parking lot where they arrested him for possession of marijuana. Kingen described himself to officers as a musician and a member of a local band. Chief Krasny said while no direct connection between Mrs. Burnette, Miss Wyboski and Kingen has been established, it is believed they had a common source of drugs. Staff St. Hicks said the two women were in the process of opening cans containing packets of marijuana when the raiding officers entered the Baylis Dr. house. U.S. postal officials and Immigration Service investigators had learned some time ago that large quantities of drugs, bound for the illicit American market, were being shippe 1 to Midwestern cities in such cans, Chief Krasny said. When officers from Ann Arbor, gthe two federal agencies and State Police entered 2892 Baylis Dr. yesterday they had with them arrest warrants for Mrs. Burnette and Miss Wyborski in addition to a federal search warrant, Chief sgt. Hicks said the raiding party seized a total of six pounds of marijuana a small amount of hashish and an "assortment" of pills and capsules which appear to be stimulants and depressants. He said laboratory tests of the pills will be made later. The arrest of Kingen was made in a parking lot of the A & P Store at Hewitt Rd. and Washtenaw Ave. in Ypsilanti Township, across the street from Cleary Business College. The location is only a few blocks from Kingen's home at 1886 Packard St. in Ypsilanti. Investigating officers had trailed Kingen from a house in Chelsea to the parking lot. They arrested him after seizing about four pounds of marijuana which they said they found in his possession. The narcotic could bring $400 if sold on the drug market, Sgt. Hicks said. Mrs. Burnette, Miss Wyborski and Kingen were placed in the County Jail after the arrests and are to be arraigned in the weekly night court session of Ann Arbor District Court late today.
