Representatives of the Ann Arbor Teachers' Association (AATA) are expected to present a salary counter-proposal tonight during the regular weekly meeting with the Board of Education's negotiating team. The AATA will be responding to the board's latest salary and fringe-benefit proposals. These include fully-paid health and accident insurance for all teachers and their dependents, or $10 per month for other options available. Also included are the normal yearly increases specified in the 1967-68 contract for those teachers below step 10 on the salary schedule, and $200 ranses for veteran teachers beyond step 10. This proposed $20ft hike would mean an increase in the veteran teachers' maximum salaries from $10,140 to $10,340 for those with bachelor's degrees, and from $11,070 to $11,270 for teachers with master's degrees. The AATA, in turn, has proposed a $2 million pay-andfringe-benefit package.
