Appointmenw recommended by the superintendent were approved last night by the Ann Arbor Board of Education. Dorothy Ouradnik was appointed acting director of instruecional materials; Hoger Swanpon, acting coördinator o f foreign languages, and Roy Underwood, acting chairman of industrial arts. Michael Harrah was hired to teach speech at Pioneer High. o o During the "Questions, Comments and Petitions" portion of the meeting, Robert Curby asked what decisión had been made regarding the installation of sidewalks behind Pioneer High from the Scio Church división. Supt. W. Scott Westen man Jr. said the subject had been explored by the schools ira conjunctron with the city, and the decisión would be made soon. o o Ann Arbor Education Asso-' ciation President Harold Collins informed the trustees the 1968-, 70 master contract with the Board of Education has now been ratified by. 454 teachers- an absolute majority. He said 99 teachers had voted againsu the contract. o o School Board President Joseph R. Julin said the school secretaries recently ratified their two-year contract. It was ratified by the board last week. o o The trustees unanimously approved a change in the building fund report and changes inj the method of paying accounts] payable. o o 't 'Trustees Richard M. Wooq and Paul H. Johnson drd nol attend the two hours of regular j briefing and executive sessiona last night. o o Trustee Hazen J. Schumachea Jr. is still on crutches from a knee injury sustained whila playing touch football lasJ week. He expects to be off tha crutches within a week or so.
