An aSmíni&trative decisión on whether Ann Arbor School's "long hair" policy will be retamed Iwill be announced Monday, Pioneer High Principal Theodore R. Rokicki said late yesterday. The policy - which forbids male students to have their hair flowing over their collars, sideburns which extend below the lower lip or beards- was debated for two hours yesterday by the faculty s Grievance Committee, Rokicki said. The committee made a recommendation on the hair policy ■which will be reviewed by Rokicki and Supt. of. Schools W. Scott Westerman Jr. this weekend before a final decisión is made. The recommendation was not disclosed. Three male students have been suspended from Pioneer High for violating the hair policy. The suspension resulted in a threatened student walk-out and a protest by about 25 irate parents at Wednesday's Board of Education meeting. Yesterday's meeting of the Grievance Committee followed a 45-minute Open Forum discussion on the issue attended by the faculty and about 200 Pioneer High students. The Huron High newspaper staff was also admitted. Other Huron High , dents, parents and the press were excluded. Rokicki said the school's grooming policy and f ree press were discussed at the "very orderly, rational" meeting. Some Pioneer students mdicated they were dissatisfied with the meeting, however. "Nothing was accomplished," one girl commented. Several students said a large delegation of Pioneer and Huron students plan to attend this Wednesday's Board of Education meeting to protest the policy. The three boys who were suspended this week for violating the hair policy remain suspended. Two other students suspended Wednesday for distributing unauthorized literature urging a student walkout have been re-admitted.
