■ The Ann Arbor Public School District and nine ■ other area school districts will have millage or ■ bonding proposals, or both, on the June 9 ballot in ■ addition to the election of school board members. In the Ann Arbor School District, residentsJ ■ will vote on a 6.67-mill package for school operaJ ■ tions. This includes a 3.37-mill renewal and 3.3 adl ■ ditional milis over five years. The total millage 1 ■ which is expected to bring in $3,481,295 in revenuel ■ to the district, will be used for teachers' salaries,! I increased enrollment and program improvements.l Also on the Ann Arbor ballot will be a $4,950,I 000 bonding issue for construction of the city's fifth I junior high school on a site at Nixon and Bluett ' I Rds. on the city's northeast side. I The Washtenaw Intermedíate School District I will have a half-mill proposal on the June 9 ballot I for all voters in the Intermedíate School District, which includes Ann Arbor and nine other school districts in Washtenaw County. This is a half-mill increase for special education programs run by the county. Presently, a half-mill is being levied for special education. I The Chelsea Public School District will try I again to pass an 11.98-mill proposal for operating expenses. The issue failed in a special May 5 elecI tion by a vote of 724 to 441. i Of the total millage, 7.65 is renewal and 4.33 I is an increase. However, the net increase will be I I 3.83 milis because of the reduction in the debt I I tirment fund due to an increase of about $1 million I in the district's equalized valuation. The valuation I Ifor 1968-69 was set at $45,299,108. I The operating millage is needed for salary I I creases, an anticipated increased enrollment of 100 I [ students, two new school buses and general I penses. The 3.83-mill increase is expected to bring I in $175,000 in revenue to the school district. j A 13-mill proposal for operating expenses will I face residents of the Dexter Community School I District. Nine of the milis constitute a renewal and four I an increase. Both sums are for one year. The I ditional millage would bring in about $136,800 per I year to the district. The millage wöuld provide for the operation of additions at the Bates Elementary School and I the Wylie Intermedíate School, the hiring of new I teachers, expansión of the transportatïonprogram, I teachers' salaries and other expenses. The Manchester Public School District will be I asking the one-year renewal of 9Vi milis for operI ating expenses. The millage, which is expected to I bring in $200,771 in revenue, will be for teachers' I salaries and other costs. ■ A proposal for 10.85 milis will be on the ballot I in the Saline Area School District. The total millI age represents 7.54 milis for renewal and 3.31 milis I as an increase. The additional millage is needed I to replace a balance of $154,000 which the school I district had and used for salary raises and for new I teachers during the past two years. j A $835,000 bond issue will face residents of the j I South Lyon Community School District. ; The proposal would provide for the adding of I eight classrooms to the Salem Elementary School, I I a special reading room, one special education I room, a multi-purpose room, office area, teachers'! workroom, kitchen, shower rooms and a library. I Two separate millage proposals for operating I I expenses will be voted on in the Pinckney 1 I munity School District. One proposal is a renewal of 14 milis for three years. The second proposal will be a two-mill increase for one year. The total 16 milis is expected to bring in a total of $442,580 in revenue to the district. The millage will be used to hire six tional teachers and to upgrade and opérate the programs in the school system. Residents in the Brighton Public School District will be asked to approve a 9.75 millage proposal for operating expenses. j Of the 'total figure, seven milis is for renewal and 2.75 milis is an increase. Both are for five years. The increase is expected to bring in an additional $123,000 to the schools' coffers. Most of the millage will be used for salaries for school personnel. I The Howell Public School District will ask for the renewal of 12 milis for one year for operating expenses. The millage, which would be used for teachers' and staff salaries, will bring in $786,000 to the school district. The renewal of four milis for operating I penses for three years will be voted on by residents I of the Clinton Community School District. I The millage, which would bring in $80,000 in I revenue per year to the school district, is mostly I for teachers' salaries and other expenses. I Also on the ballot will be a one-mill proposal I of the Lenawee Intermedíate School District to I opérate and maintain the Lenawee Intermedíate I School district's special education program.
