9 Candidates Certified For School Board Ballot
Nine persons have bfen announced as eligible candidates for the June 12 Board of Education election by Richard Creal, assistant to the deputy superintendent for operations. A total of 10 petitions were turned in by the 4 p.m. deadline Monday, but 15 year-old Sonia Yaco was not accepted as being eligible. "We have sent her a letter informing her that she is not of legal age to run in the election and we will not submit her names as a candidate," said Creal. Earlier reports from Miss Yaco indicated, however, that the Tappan Junior High Student will take the issue to court if her petition is denied. There are three seats up for election this year and all Ahree' incunflíents are seeking re-election for another threeyear term. Terms expire this June for Board of Education President Cecil Warner, and Trustees Ronald Bishop and Henry Johnson. Candidates as announced by Creal are: Bishop of 1011 Linc o 1 n Ave., Mrs. Nancy Brussello of 15 4 0 Roxbury Rd., Curtis Holt of 2249 Glencoe Hills, Johnson of 1327 Culver, Clarence Dukes of 816 Sunrise C t . , Mrs. Marilyn (Terry) Martin of 1565 bury Rd., Warner of 2416 Nixon Rd., Mrs. Lettie Wickliffe of 305 Beakes, and Gretchen Groth Wilson of 2804 Braeburn Ct. The Ann Arbor Citizens for Responsive Education (CARE) - a liberal citizens group - has endorsed Bishop, Johnson and Mrs. Brussello. The Human R i g h t s Party (HRP) has also publicly endorsed a slate of three candidates for the non-partisan election; Miss Yaco, Mrs. Wilson and Holt.
