12 File For Seats On Board
A dozen prospecfive candidates, including a 14-year-old student whose name won't appear on the ballot, have turned in applications to run for three seats on the Ann Arbor Board of Education on the June 10 ballot. None of the incumbents have filed. School officials said they accepted the ! application and petitions of Larry Mann, a freshman at Pioneer II High School, ! but have sent him a letter saying his name will nofbe on the ballot because he is not a registered voter. Mann, 1331 Olivia, is eridorsed by the Human Rights Party. School officials hope to check signatures on petitions and certify the eligibility of all candidates by today. Those whose applications have been certified are: Manfred Schmidt, 3214 Williamsburg Rd.; Tanya B. Israel, 2037 Winsted Blvd.; Astrid B. Beek, 1706 Mclntyre; E. Stevens Binder, 4001 Pratt Rd., Scio Township; and Willie J. Simpson, 1058,WestaireWay. Those whose applications are beingl checked today are: Peter S. Wright, 2140 Needham Rd.; W. L. Cash Jr., 3540 WinI demere; George M. Kolasa, 2760 Colony; ! Elliot Chikofsky, 1015 Vaughn; Stanley Bielby, 1325 Ardmoor Ave.; and Wendy Barhydt, 5175 W. Liberty Rd. 1 Prospective candidates have until Thursday to withdraw their names from the ballot. In addition to the school board seats I voters will decide on two millage reI quests, a five-year millage of 1.3 milis I for the school district and a one year I millage of 1.7 milis for the city.
