A formal announcement tnat the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved a $60,000 loan for preliminary planning of 300 public housing units in Ann Arbor was issued early this afternoon by Sen. Robert P. Griffin, R-Mich. No discussion has taken place locally yet concerning locations and financing methods for the 300 units, which will be in addition to 127 on which construction is now starting. Housing Commission Chairman Robert P. Weeks said yesterday the new loan actually was approved in Washington on May 23.
