The Stoihit SÍ Medical Center, now located at 704 Spring St., is the recipiënt of a $3,000 grant from the Ann Arbor Area Foundation. "The gift is deeply appreciated," stated Dr. Edward C. Pierce, founder of the Center. "The gift will make possible the installation of x-ray ment for chest and bones." Summit Street Medical Center is a non-profit medical Corporation. The Corporation contains .an advisory board consisting of two clergymen, two attorneys, a pharmacist, and a retired business man. Caseload has required the addition of Dr. Jerry S. Walden. Both doctors are salaried by the Corporation. The Ann Arbor Area Foundation receives funds through bequests, private estates, memorials, gifts. These funds are, in turn, distributed by a Board of Trustees to worthy community projects. More recent projects include: The Association for Children with Social and Learning Difficulties - to assist them in making their proposed Service Center a reality; Mack School PTO Camp Fund - to assist in sending 65 safety patrol girls and boys and 11 adults to Gus Leinbach's camp near Traverse City for a four-day educational trip; Church of the Good Shepherd - to cover publication costs and mailing expenses for "Would You Like to Help?", a revised directory of volunteer opportunities, a public service project of the church women for free distribution.
