The Huron High School Symphony Orchestra will perform [Saturday in Hill Auditorium at the 25th Annual Midwestern Conference on School Vocal and Instrumental Music. The 50-minute program begins at 9 a.m. The Midwestern Conference is an annual event held in Ann Arbor for state music teachers and their guests. Three or four outstanding bands and orchestras in the state are invited to play for the conference each year. Featured as a soloist in Sat-I urday's concert will be Sharonl Meyers, 17, a senior at Huronl High and president of the School's Symphony Orchestra. Miss Meyers will perform thel first movement of the Mendelssohn "Violin Concerto in E Minor" with the orchestra Saturday. Also on the program are! works by Wallingford Riegger, Beethoven, Mozart, Corelli and Telemann. Miss Meyers is presently al member of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. She has twice been a soloist with the Huron High Symphony Orchestra, and last] year was selected as a student] soloist with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. The Huron Symphony Orchestra is under the direction of Donald Parrish. Last year, the orchestra performed at the first annual Conductor's Symposium,! sponsored by the Michigan! School Band and Orchestra Association. Saturday's concert is free andl mpen to the public.
