yr (Speclarto'-Hfe Ne'ws) ' HOWELL- A motion to dismiss charges against six students at Ann Arbor's Huron High School who were arrested on March 6 after allegediy cutting down billboards along 1-96 near Fowlerville, was filed today with Livingston County District Court Judge Bert M. Hensick. Ann Arbor attorney Peter A. Davis filed the motion in behalf of the six boys on the grounds the restaurant sign cited in the case as evidence was ülegally placed under state law. A survey by Robert J. Jagow of the Ann Arbor surveying firm of AtwellHicks, Inc., placed the sign less than a foot away from the highway right-ofway in alleged violation of the 660-foot limit undër state law. A hearing on the motión will be postponed until Judge Hensick returns from vacation in two or three weeks. Charged with malicious destruction of property involving the cutting down of three billboards along the highway between Howell and Fowlerville were Russell C. Balch, 17, of 1629 Sheridan Dr.; Brandon S. Parkes, 17, of 443 Huntington PI.; David C. Field, 18, of 3570 Frederick Dr.; George W. Gibson, 17, of 2872 Glacier Way; Stanley M. Pollack of 4068 Thornoaks Dr.; and George N. Scott, 17, of 2260 Gale Rd., all Ann Arbor addresses. The youths pleaded not guilty when arraigned on March 8, with release bond of $100 each being continued. A trial date has not yet been set. The youths are reported to be foes of pollution who were trying to beautify the countryside.
