Pontiac Trail Sidewalk Okd

Although it's not whe final answer to the problem of getting children to school safely, the City Council last night approved construction of sidewalks on the west side of Pontiac Trail from Barton Dr. to the north city limits. City Administrator Guy C. Larcom Jr. said ideally sidewalks would also be built on the east side but that difficulties in finding methods of financing that construction prevent it now. (Much of the east side remains in Ann Arbor Townsliip.) Larcom estimated it would cost $20,000 to place a walkway on the east side but reported, "We're still trying to find a way of doing it." The west side will cost $10,461, based on the preliminary estímate. In another sidewalk matter, the council passed a resolution authorizing the preparation of plans and specifications for a sidewalk to run along the ..ast side of Maple Rd. from the public housing site to Pauline Blvd. and along the south side of Pauline to Runnymede. A similar resolution was passed for a sidewalk along Seybold Dr. from the public housing site to Hollywood Dr.
