Des Moines, Iowa, Jan. 11. - Senator Wilson was nominated Tuesday night by the Republican caucus, on the first ballot, to be his own successor in the upper branch of the United States congress. The vote resulted: Wilson, 79; Larrabee, 19; scattering B. Hepburn's name was withdrawn. Wilson was brought before the caucus and made a brief speech of thanks.
The caucus then nominated for state printer G H. Ragsdale, of LeMars; for state binder, Otto Nelson, publisher of a Swedish paper; for warden of Fort Madison penitentiary, Col. Crossley, and for Animosa penitentiary, Marquis Barr, the present incumbents, the last two being named by acclamation.
