There was no fire yesterday morning altliough the alarm bell rung long and oud at half-past three, sounding the alarm for the flrst ward. The bell ringer disappeared after informing the irst arrival that the fire was on ï'ourth street. The lire company was soon running up Fourth street and although hey searched everywhere there was no trace of a flre. Down Main they carne witb the same result anc1 after anathenizingthe false alarm, the hose carts were put back into the engine house. The thermometer was below zero and he ringer of the talse alarm should be feneted out, taken before a justice court and fined as heavily as the law will permit.
