The town assessment is being taken. Drummers are numerous here every day. Cows have been out to grass here since the first of May. The prospect for fruit about here this summer is reported good. Work has begun on H. S. Holmes new residence on East Middle street. Mrs. E. A. Avery goes to Three Oaks next week to spend the summer. The measles are abating some and no new cases have been reported lately. A few loads of wheat have been bought here this week at 85 cents perbushel. Some traveling horse traders here have been camping north of this town this week. Missjoe Ruchéis said tobe going to Lansing to engage in dress making at the Capital. C. Hasselschwerdt is going to move his restaurant into the Wilkinson building on Middle street. Thos. Congdon, of St. Johns, came here last Tuesday night to visit relatives and attend to sóme business affairs. The donation at the town hall Wednesday night for Eider Mclntosh was largely attended and a pleasant time had and $So realized. Vegetation has developed rapidly since the late ram. It was everything to wheat and young clover. An uuusual acreage of barley and oats have been planted about here. Mrs. Good win, widow of the late George Goodwin of Lyndon,died at the family residence on Tuesday of some ailment of the kidneys. She was about 55 years oíd and a pioneer in Lyndon. Charles Young died at the residence of his daughter in this village Wednesday evening f rom the effects ofaninjuryto his hand by a saw some ten days ago. He was sixtyseven years oíd and removed to this township with his family from England at an early day; bought land and out of the wilderness has carved for himself a competence of this worlds goods. He has eríjoyed the respect and confidence of his neighbors and many friends. Five children and his sccond wife survive him. ' .
