Business places are in good demand for the first time in two years. Decoration day was duly observed by the G. A. R. post of this place. Milk shake is one of the leading drinks of our village, to be found at the corner drug store. Several of our firemen and others were quite severely burned last night vvhile fighting the flames. It is rumored that H. Whipple will move the Commercial Houss down town in a short time. Merchants this morning are busy getting their effects together and looking for a place to continue business. E. V. Chilson (editor of the Picket) and lady attended the meeting of the editors in Detroit last week. Bert brought home a very fine bicycle, which may prove the destruction of him before he gets to be an expert in that line. Another disastrous fire took place here Tuesday night about 12 o'clock, commencing in the rear of Thos. Dunlap'sdrug store and spreading in both directions until eight business places were swept avvav by the ñames. Those suiïering losjes are J. McDonald, A. G. Barnes, H. Bennett, Alfred Botsford, Thos. Lninlap, D. Dunlap and L. R. Moshier. As far as learned there was no insurance except on D. Dunlap's building. He saved all of his goods and household furniture. The total loss will amount to about $15,000, the only insurance being held by D. Dunlap, $500 The fire is considered by the majority of the community as the work of an incendian', as none of the buildings occupied had any fire in them at the time the fiie occurred.
