Pittsburg, Pa., June 19.- The threat of the ironworkers to shut down for three months ii mauufacturers refuse to sign the scale is haviug the desired effect. The latter are thoroughly frightened. One of them said that they could not stand it. He added : "We are willing to make some concessions in the interests of peace, and if the Amalgarnated association will do the same a settlementought to be reached." The belief is general that the seale will be amended and signed, and that there will consequently be no shut-down except such as is usual at this time of year.
